“To commune with the folks in Tucson, was exhilerating!” says Tim Gibbs Zehnder. Over the first weekend in April, Tucson Borderlands YAV (Young Adult Volunteers) celebrated their 10th anniversary with a variety of events including a Gala Dinner Celebration where Zehnder finished out the program – all generations were up dancing to the eclectic mix of originals and “oldies” the trio fired out.
Sunday morning saw the band, Tom Zehnder, Tim Gibbs Zehnder & Mike Boggio, joined by guest pastor/song writer/worship leader Rev. Ben Johnston-Krase helping lead worship at Tucson’s famous Southside Presbyterian Church. Longtime friend and Tucson Borderlands YAV Coordinator, Rev. Brandon Wert thanked the band for “bringing the party last night- and for this morning, bringing the praise!” The band felt honored to be so warmly embraced in the sanctuary where the first “Sanctuary Movement” started- kindred spirits indeed!
The whole weekend was made possible in large part through the generosity of celebrated poet, Beclee Newcomer Wilson, who wrote, “Tim and Tom…bring to life new and refreshing interpretations… To have a new audience hear them and be moved by their creativity is indeed a privilege.”
The band wishes to thank everyone who made the weekend so memorable!
